“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Mathew 18:20

My Front Porch. It is my happy place. It is a place of comfort. And it is a place where I have spent much time reading scripture, talking to God, and really listening to His Calling on my life. I should not be surprised that it is here that God nudged me to begin this blog several years ago. Although I hate to admit it, I was a Jonah and proclaimed to God that I am not qualified. I’m not elegant in my speech. I don’t have all the answers. People will judge me and say “She thinks she knows it all.” People will laugh at me. Then, I turned to other excuses. I don’t have time. I’m already doing so much. I need to spend more time with my family. Although some or all of these “excuses” may be true to an extent, God has been consistent in telling me, “You need you to do this.” God and I have spent a lot of time talking. I have spent a lot of time listening. And just like Jonah, I am finally turning from my fleeing.
So here I am. On my front porch. Sharing and allowing God to shape a new beginning. . a new front porch in the form of a blog for parents who are truly seeking to raise their children up in homes built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. It will be a place where anyone can share and offer words of wisdom and encouragement. LET ME SAY THIS LOUD AND CLEAR: My husband and I are not experts in parenting, and we do not have all the answers. However, we both love our God more than anything else in the world. I also love children and working with them, and I absolutely LOVE being a mom and consider it the most important calling that God has chosen me for. I’ll also say up-front that I have only one answer to every question that is ever asked: Pray! Without a doubt, I truly believe in the power of prayer and in the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus. Most importantly, I truly believe in the importance of surrendering to Him in all things, including the very precious gifts of our children.

So let’s begin on this journey together! Jesus tells us when two or more are gathered, He is there. Let’s get together in the name of Jesus and just talk and share about being Christian parents, all at different places in our journey, in a world that is anti-Christian.
I’ll see you next time – On the front porch!
